The Knights of the Old Republic series is in a similar boat, as its worlds and gameplay are dated at this point, but its narratives remain intact-so intact, in fact, that many story-driven games still draw inspiration from them to this day. Missed opportunity or not, the Star Wars Jedi games can't be discredited for their lack of open worlds because they were created to tell stories, and they do an excellent job of it. The universe that Respawn built for it is undoubtedly beautiful, but its restrictive design leaves players with no choice but to stare out longingly at sprawling landscapes that they will never set foot on. The hugely popular Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is primarily a narrative-driven experience, with most of its exploration being confined to a linear path. ![]()
